Transforming Kebbi into Nigeria’s Food Basket
Under Governor Nasir Idris’ leadership, Kebbi State has strengthened its position as a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria. His administration has empowered over 50,000 farmers through the free distribution of fertilizers, improved seedlings, and modern farming equipment, directly boosting productivity at the grassroots. With a strong focus on rice cultivation, Kebbi has maintained its critical role in supporting Nigeria’s push for rice self-sufficiency. The expansion of irrigation projects has enabled year-round farming, significantly increasing both crop yields and farmer incomes. Additionally, Governor Idris has fostered strategic partnerships with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government through initiatives like the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme, further enhancing agricultural development across the state.
